    A few years ago, I was a homeowner trying to remodel my kitchen in Austin. I paid a contractor a large deposit upfront — the industry standard, I was told — and watched the project stall for weeks. No clear milestone. No accountability. No easy way to get my money back.

    I started talking to neighbors, contractors, and anyone involved in renovation. The same story came up again and again: homeowners afraid to pay, contractors frustrated by slow or withheld payments. Everyone distrusting everyone else — and no system in place to fix it.

    So I built one. Not a marketplace. Not another review site. A payment protection layer that holds funds in escrow, releases them only when work is verified, and gives both sides a documented paper trail they can trust.

    That's Secure Home Renovation. It's the tool I wish had existed when I needed it most.
