How Secure Home Renovation Works
We fix renovation payments at the structural level — so both sides stay protected from start to finish.
Why Renovation Payments Go Wrong
The Disappearing Contractor
A homeowner pays a $15,000 deposit. The contractor starts strong — then slows, stalls, and stops returning calls. The money is gone. The project is half-finished. Legal recovery is slow and expensive.
The Withholding Homeowner
A contractor finishes a bathroom on schedule. The homeowner decides to dispute the final invoice — not because work was poor, but to delay payment. The contractor has no leverage and no documentation.
Both scenarios share the same root cause: money changes hands without a structured, verified trigger.
Secure Home Renovation solves this by tying every payment to a confirmed milestone — verified by an independent inspector, not just a handshake.
STEP 1
The Milestone Model
A milestone is a defined phase of work with a clear deliverable and a fixed payment amount. Instead of large upfront deposits, your project is divided into 3–5 milestones. Payment is only released when each milestone passes inspection.
Our team helps you structure milestones on your setup call — tailored to your specific project scope and contractor agreement.
Example: $24,000 kitchen remodel broken into 4 verified payment milestones.
1Milestone 1
Demo & Framing
$4,500
2Milestone 2
Plumbing & Electrical
$6,000
3Milestone 3
Cabinets & Tile
$8,500
4Milestone 4
Final Finish & Punch List
$5,000
STEP 2
The Inspection Process
Every milestone is verified by a licensed, independent inspector — not affiliated with your contractor or our platform.

Who are the inspectors?
Licensed trade professionals and general contractors with 10+ years of field experience. They are vetted, insured, and independent.

What happens if it fails?
The inspector documents specific deficiencies. The contractor corrects the work. A re-inspection is scheduled — funds stay held until it passes.

What does an inspection cover?
Scope completeness, material quality, code compliance, and workmanship — compared directly against your signed milestone agreement.

How long does scheduling take?
Most inspections are scheduled within 48–72 hours of a milestone completion request. Rush scheduling is available in the Austin metro area.

What happens if it passes?
Funds are released to your contractor within 24 hours. Both parties receive a signed inspection report for their records.
Step 3
Your Project Record
Every project on our platform generates a permanent, tamper-resistant record. You own it — forever. This documentation protects you during disputes, resale, and insurance claims.

Progress Photos
Time-stamped photos at every inspection stage.

Change Orders
All scope changes logged and countersigned digitally.

Inspection Reports
Signed PDFs from each milestone inspection.

Payment History
Full transaction log with milestone-linked timestamps.

Step 4
Dispute Resolution
Disagreements happen — even on well-run projects. When they do, our process is designed to be fair, documented, and fast.
Either party can open a dispute through their dashboard. Our team reviews all milestone agreements, inspection reports, change orders, and payment history before making a determination.
We don't take sides. We follow the paper trail. That's why documentation matters from day one.

Step 4
